Firefighter / Paramedic
Under general supervision of a Company Officer, provides basic and advanced life support services to ill or injured persons in accordance with the policies established by the Inland County Emergency Medical Services of San Bernardino County (I.C.E.M.A). Firefighter/paramedics are responsible for performing the duties of a firefighter assigned to engine and other specialized fire department apparatus.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
Current placement on hiring list utilized at time of vacancy.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I Certification or successful completion of a State of California recognized Firefighter Academy or two years or more years of verified experience as a Volunteer Firefighter Paramedic or Paid-Call Firefighter Paramedic with a California Fire Department.
Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) with the State of California and current EMT-P accreditation with the Inland County Emergency Medical Agency within 1 year of employment
ACLS Certification, PALS Certification, CPR/AED Certification
NIMS:100, 200, 700, 800 (New Hires and employed after 9-1-2012)
Two years verified experience providing 911 ALS care. Experience will be reviewed case by case.
Valid Class C California Driver’s License. Must remain insurable with MVFD liability carrierFirefighter / Paramedic
Fire Apparatus Engineer
This position works for the Morongo Valley C.S.D. Fire Department and drives, operates and maintains firefighting apparatus and equipment; responds to fire alarms, emergency calls and non-emergency calls to protect life and property; conducts and participates in fire training, fire prevention, public education, station and equipment maintenance activities and to supervise or assist in all phases of fire suppression. Morongo Valley C.S.D. Fire Department is a community-based department that is often required to participate in non-emergency community government and local organization assistance.
An accredited California Fire Academy of increasingly responsible firefighting experience.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in fire science or a related field is desirable.
License or Certificates:
• Possession of a valid Class B Firefighter Exempt driver's license.
• Possession of, and ability to maintain, a valid Emergency Medical Technician Certificate or valid paramedic certificate(s) and valid CPR certificate.
• Possession of, and ability to maintain, a valid Firefighter I certificate.
• Possession of driver operator 1A and 2A.
• Possession of NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 hired after 9/1/2012.
• Must be department certified on the following types of vehicles: triple combination pumper apparatus, water tenders, brush pump apparatus, utility and staff units.• Must be certified, or certified prior to end of probationary period, on all department fire apparatus
About the Position: The Reserve Firefighter/EMT, under direct supervision of the Fire Company Officer, is an active member of the “All Risk” firefighting team who responds to all requests for emergency and non-emergency service within Morongo Valley and adjoining communities. Successful candidates may be assigned to one or more work shifts per week.
Minimum Requirements: Must hold a valid class “C” California drivers license or higher; valid State of California EMT certification; valid CPR/AED certification; completion from a State of California recognized Firefighter Academy; o r State of California Firefighter I certificate; and High School diploma or GED.
About the Process: Persons meeting the minimum requirements shall submit an employment application. After successful completion of a background check, eligible applicants will be admitted to a “fire service” written test and oral interview. Candidates who are successful in the written test and oral interview process will be admitted to a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Candidates successful in the pre-employment physical and drug screen will be given a conditional offer of employment.
